A person who practises in any of the fields of anatomy in a recognized institution in Ghana may join the Society as a Regular member. For the avoidance of doubt, the fields recognised by ASOG for this purpose include both human and animal sub-disciplines such as developmental anatomy, histology, macroscopic anatomy, neuro-anatomy, clinical anatomy, forensic anthropology, physical anthropology, cell and molecular biology, imaging anatomy, comparative anatomy and anatomical science education.
A student who is pursuing academic programmes at the bachelors, masters or doctoral level in any of the fields of anatomy in Ghana qualify to become a member.
Any Ghanaian national who is pursuing a bachelors, masters and doctoral program abroad in any of the fields of anatomy qualify to be an Affiliate member and may register with ASoG.
A person who is practising outside the scope of anatomy mentioned here but demonstrates strong interest in anatomy shall be admitted as an Associate member upon submission of a written application to the Society. An Associate member shall be permitted to take part in proceedings and functions of the Society but shall not have voting right or be eligible to any elective office of the Society.
ASOG may confer Honorary membership on non-Anatomists who have distinguished themselves in promoting the development of Anatomy.
DUTIES OF ASOG MEMBERS
The aspiration to promote and safeguard the development of Anatomy in Ghana is inseparable from the performance of duties and obligations required of a reasonable member and shall accordingly be the duty of every member to, inter alia-
1. Be a law abiding citizen of Ghana.
2. Uphold and defend the Constitution of ASoG.
3. Promote the good name and respect for the authority of ASoG.
4. Protect and preserve the property of ASoG.
5. Contest and expose the misuse and waste of ASoG funds and property.
6. Promptly and honestly pay all dues and levy obligations for the smooth running of the Society.
7. Ensure the well-being of other members of ASoG.
GOVERNANCE
The ASOG is governed by its National Executive Committee. The highest decision-making body of the Society is the General Assembly, which meets at the Annual General Meetings held in different parts of the country.
